กริยาวิเศษณ์หรือ Adverb
คือคำที่ใช้ขยายคำกริยา คำคุณศัพท์หรือกริยาวิเศษณ์ด้วยกันเองก็ได้
โดยปกติแล้วกริยาวิเศษณ์จะอยู่ในรูปของ คำเดี่ยว (One Word) เช่น
quietly, sweetly, nationally, immediately แต่อย่างไรก็ตามกริยาวิเศษณ์สามารถเป็นกริยาวิเศษณ์วลี
(Adverbial Phrase) ได้ เช่น well enough, in the
park, next week ซึ่งไม่จำเป็นจะต้องมี -ly ก็ได้
กริยาวิเศษณ์แบ่งออกเป็น
4 ชนิดด้วยกัน
1. Adverb of Manner คือคำหรือกลุ่มคำกริยาวิเศษณ์ที่บอกว่าคำที่ขยายนั้นมีการกระทำอย่างไร
เช่น
- We work hard whenever we will have a test.
- He drives home carefully.
- She sings beautifully.
- They stay without the air conditioner.
- We can do it by ourselves.
2. Adverb of Place คือคำหรือกลุ่มคำกริยาวิเศษณ์ที่บอกเหตุการณ์นั้นเกิดขึ้นที่ใด
- We have worked here since 1998.
- I will go there next week.
- Did you see my wallet under the desk?
- I can’t fine what you lost in the kitchen.
3. Adverb of Time คือคำหรือกลุ่มคำกริยาวิเศษณ์ที่บ่งบอกว่าเหตุการณ์นั้นเกิดขึ้นเมื่อใด
เช่น
- I will tell you later.
- I am now serious.
- Recently, I have seen the
Korean superstar, Kim Tae Yon.
- She tells me that the weather was so bad yesterday.
- Tomorrow morning, I will see the doctor.
4. Adverb of Frequency คือคำหรือกลุ่มคำกริยาวิเศษณ์ที่ใช้แสดงความบ่อยหรือความถี่ว่ามีการกระทำนั้นๆมากน้อยเพียงใด
- I will always love you.
- She will usually be loved.
- I occasionally saw ghosts in my dormitory.
- I bought Daily News 2 times a week.
- I take a bus to school once a week.
